Days Five and Six

Sunday I went to the Coastal Carolina Airshow in Wilmington, NC. It was an awesome show. Great weather. Great show. Great performers. Great Statics. Great everything. Only wish I could have gone to both days. Hell I even got a sunburn for the first time this year haha.

Today, Monday, I woke up at 12:00 and went to work at 1pm. Not much went on in the afternoon. I fueled the US Airways CRJ, then the Dash-8 later. And then a Beechjet N527XP flew in. They took about 400 gal of fuel, which nowadays is about $2000. Then we found out they were there to pick up David Garrard. Yes, the same David Garrard that is the quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I got to meet him and shake his hand. He was a very nice guy, very down to earth. They left, and the rest of the night was uneventful.

Day Four

Wow talk about a boring day. Was up at 8am and sat around pretty much all day on the computer doing some photo editing and whatnot. Went with my fiance to her sorority's formal tonight. It was ok, but it was the 3rd one ive been to over the last year and a half and they are starting to get a little redundant. Anyways, that is honestly it for the day. I am going to bed early as tomorrow will be an EXCITING day as I am heading to the first airshow of the season for me, the Coastal Carolina Airshow in Wilmington, NC, leaving here around, oh, 5:30am. So, off to bed now....

Day Three

So Friday night.......I spent all day around the house and getting a few errands done...BOOOOORING. I went over to my best friend Connor's place where we had a few beers and played NHL08 on PS3. Then we went to Tiebreakers to watch the Rangers vs Devils game. Rangers were up 3-1 in ther series and 4-1 in the game when we got there. Devils scored 2 to make it 4-3, but the Rangers scored a last goal to win the game 5-3 and the series 4-1. It was a fun time there though. But that is about the extent of my day.

For now, have a good night, and a great day tomorrow

Day Two

Well today was a bit more interesting. Senator Barack Obama flew into the airport and spoke at ECU. I was presented with a choice: stay at the airport and get a shot of his 757-200 landing, or go to campus and attend the rally. I decided to go to the rally. it was awesome. Obama is an amazing speaker, as most know. Personally, I felt the whole time like he was speaking to me. He seemed to really speak to the people. Those who really live day by day in rural America. The average American. Ya know.....me.

Anyways, the line to get in was HUGE. There were probably about 8,000 people outside in line to get in. A student line and a general admission line. The students were guarateed in. Which was awesome, cause that meant that instead of me having to stay overnight or get there at about noon to get a good seat, I got there at 3:30pm, 30 mins before the doors opened, and got in, down on the floor, and ultimately only about 25 feet from where Obama was speaking at. It was great.

After this speech, a fwe of us were told to stay behind. We had no idea why, and they would not tell us. Only about 200 of us were still there of the originally about 8,000. It was then we were told that Obama was coming back out, which was awesome enough in itself. Then we found out he was going to be doing a small interview with Stephen Colbert for The Colbert Show tonight on Comedy Central. Everyone was going nuts. Anyways, Obama came out, and after listening in on the parts of the show leading up to our part, they went live to us, and Obama, using cue cards, quipped back and forth with Colbert about how the questions from the media and in the debates were the same over and over, and how it should change. Colbert said it should because "it allows us to ask the same questions over and over and over without any effort." That was pretty funny. So we watched it tonight, and sure enough, there I was, jest to the right of his shoulder. You couldnt tell it was me, cause it was kinda far away, but I knew it was me. It was pretty awesome to see.

Between the speech and the show, I went out to the airport to see him leave. The 757 had been parked RIGHT next to the GA terminal. So when the motorcade came in, we saw him get out and go up into the plane. Then it ran up the Rolls Royce engines and taxiied out. Blew sand everywhere too. It back-taxiied on rwy 02 and took off. LOUD. Wow. And cars on the hwy behind it STOPPED! That was kinda funny to see. After that, it was back home to watch the show.

Can't get my shots of him to load onto pbase right now for some reason, so when i get it, I will post them!!!

For now, have a good night, and a great day tomorrow

Day One

Day One of my blog. Decided on a random whim I wanted to start a blog. So here goes.

Well today was actually pretty uneventful. I didn't have to go to work today, so I just slept in until about 1:30pm after a late night with Kelly :-D. Got up and took her class, ran some errands, picked her back up, and ran some more errands. I wasn't feeling very good, so we went home and I took about an hour nap. At 6:00pm I had training at the airport, so I went out there. We talked about our special visitor tomorrow (check out the post tomorrow night if you want to know all about it! I am sworn to secrecy until this person comes tomorrow). We also discussed our responsibilities for the airport inspection coming up in [s]May[/s] June now. My responsibility is making sure all of the runway and taxiway lights are in working order, not broken or out. Lots of lights, but I think I can handle the job.

We had a very rare visitor to the airport while I was in my meeting tonight. A 1968 Mooney M-22 Mustang. Only 39 were built total. Only 3 remain flying. This one, N7716M, is going to be up for sale soon I believe. Awesome looking aircraft. I think it looks like something out of an Indiana Jones movie. Rustic, but rugged. It was def larger than your everyday Mooney. Taller, Longer. It didnt seem to kneel back on the main gear like smaller Mooneys. Very awesome aircraft. Hope I get the chance to see it again soon, as the current owner is FROM Greenville!

NHL playoffs are going on right now. Round 1 still. Ottawa got swept by Pittsburgh! Of course, the only 2 players in the series for Ott. to have more than 1 point were Commodore and Stillman. Go figure. Nashville won their game vs. Detroit, so that series is now tied 2-2. Oh and the Rangers beat New Jersey, so now they are up 3-1! Connor will be happy! lol

Anyway, kinda a slow day. Without work, I have no good shots for ya. But stay tuned for some on days I work usually. I try to snap a few.

NOTE: Stay tuned Sunday night or Monday. I will be going down to Wilmington Sunday for the Coastal Carolina Airshow featuring the Thunderbirds and will post a few shots on here when I get back!

For now, have a good night, and a great day tomorrow
